Black Buffalo 3D’s NEXCON™ construction printers provide developers, contractors, governments and NGOs with technology and materials designed to save time and money over traditional building methods.
The NEXCON™ family of printers were developed in global partnership with mechanical engineering and construction experts to address the needs of tomorrow but do so today, going beyond a single story to maximize utility of printed buildings and structures.
They can print components or walls faster and more cost effectively than precast or block methods, at a fraction of the time and with a stronger, more resilient result.

The foundation of the NEXCON™ gantry frame is a modular track system that allows our clients to customize the print area and meet the unique requirements associated with each projects varying specifications. The scalability of a NEXCON™ system is achieved by its capacity to add additional tracks, facilitating the ability to move the printer from one site to another for larger community or infrastructure buildouts. Changes to the modular track configuration do not require disassembling the vertical or horizontal axis of the printer, saving time and labor expenses as a result. Mobile silos ensure that construction crews can complete more projects without the time and cost- consuming interruptions caused by tear downs or rebuilds.
Every NEXCON™ printer features built-in controls that enable the printer to automatically start and stop, leaving space for electrical, plumbing, windows, doorways, and any other necessary openings. Cleanup is as easy as flushing the machine and rinsing the nozzle at the end of a print job.
In the U.S., the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) currently limits printer speed at 9.8 inches per second. NEXCON™ 3D construction printers operate at the fastest speeds permitted by law without sacrificing the consistency or quality of the structures they create. Utilizing a crew of three operators and running uninterrupted for over 12 hours at a time, NEXCON™ printers are capable of completing a 1,000 square foot structure in under 20 hours.
Structures printed with Black Buffalo 3D printers and concrete ink exceed the strength, durability, and safety of conventional mortars, stick-built housing and poured concrete. Our 3D construction system was developed with strength, safety, usability, and durability as its defining characteristics and with the primary goal of furthering the adoption of this technology. As a result, we believe this new paradigm is primed to make a positive impact on a global basis. Black Buffalo 3D has invested considerable time and resources to create a complete ecosystem that is capable of scaling 3D construction initiatives safely, reliably, and efficiently.
NEXCON™ construction printers utilize additive manufacturing methods that provide builders, contractors, and developers with significant margin-enhancing cost savings and greater sustainability through waste elimination and localization. Additionally, NEXCON™ printers yield dramatic operational efficiencies and productivity gains that enable users to get more done in less time. Our proprietary concrete ink is the result of years of R&D and testing, ensuring usability, consistency, strength, and safety. By using Black Buffalo 3D machinery and ink, our customers can more reliably scope projects and provide accurate quotes on demand that directly impact a project’s bottom line.
Black Buffalo 3D has and will continue to educate local, regional, and global industry regulators and stakeholders to adapt legacy aging standards. Our first successful initiative was working collaboratively with ICC-ES (International Coding Commission Evaluation Service) to rewrite the criteria for 3D printed walls and accepted by over 53 countries, so as to include a more challenging multi-wall test that will accelerate acceptance of 3D construction printing for large- scale building projects. To date, no other firm has made a greater commitment to revolutionizing the industry by working with so many experts in mechanical engineering, structural design, and materials testing.
In addition to being fast, NEXCON™ 3D printers deliver on-site job versatility by utilizing a motion- centric modular gantry design capable of yielding more efficient structures that provide the greatest printable area without sacrificing print quality. The multi-axis gantry system is capable of printing structures up to 3 stories high and is optimized to generate accurate prints for any 3D-modelled design that can be created using conventional CAD software.

The core objectives driving our development of the NEXCON™ printer nozzle were to bring consistency, quality, and ease-of-use to our customers. Featuring an open hopper design, NEXCON™ allows operators to manually load small batch test runs and provides a direct line of sight for visual inspection of the mix, or inspection through the printer’s video feed. Several easily swappable nozzle tips are available to facilitate different applications.
